See the Photos That Inspired the Film
The film Chernobyl Heart was inspired when filmmaker Maryann De Leo saw the photo exhibition "Black Wind, White Land" at the United Nations building in New York City. The exhibition, organized by Chernobyl Children's Project International, featured photographs by Paul Fusco. You can view the photos that inspired the film, by clicking here.

CCPI Funds Dr. Novick of "Chernobyl Heart" for Lifesaving Pediatric Surgeries
No one who watches "Chernobyl Heart" can forget the gratitude of the parents of the little girl whose life is saved by cardiac surgeon Dr. William Novick. Financial and logistical support for Dr. Novick's life-saving missions to Belarus is provided by Chernobyl Children's Project International. Over 7000 children await cardiac surgery in Belarus -- without it they will die. Your donation will help us support this critical program. By the way, the little girl shown in the film is doing well and recently completed a trip with her family to Ireland, where she received a hero's welcome.

Since so many of you asked, in a future newsletter, we'll give you an update on other children you saw in the film.

Hope for the Children of Vesnova
Chernobyl Heart took you into the children's mental asylum in the town of Vesnova. Since the film was made, CCPI has undertaken a program to drastically improve the facility and has funded, staffed and trained nurses to provide better care for these children. Learn more on our website.
